About the Clinic

The Salud Y Bienestar Clinica Municipal is the pilot site for our Guatemala initiative. It is a publically funded clinic by Guatemala City. This Municipal Clinic had a patient range of 50-100 people per day in need of X-ray services, a service they were not able to provide before WHITIA's involvement. Patients in need of X-ray were referred to the Roosevelt Hospital where they were forced to wait long periods of time to receive an X-ray due to the limited resources in relation to patient density. By supplying the Municipal Clinic with an X-ray system, we provide X-ray capabilities in a first referral clinic, eliminating the need to travel to a second location for a diagnosis. This in turn reduces the risks of further injury and delayed diagnosis, providing better patient care as well as faster, more accurate diagnosis.

Funding for this site is attributed to Rotary Clubs in Arlington Heights Sunrise, Des Plaines, Evanston, Mt. Prospect Sunrise, Mundelein-Vernon Hills, Park Ridge and Guatemala Rotary District 4250. For the Salud Y Bienestar Municipal Clinic, we installed a complete digital solution including a Sedecal Optima WHIS-RAD X-ray and a Carestream CR 260 scanner. This digital solution allows the clinic to send images over a network to be reviewed by radiologists locally as well as internationally for further support.
